How this is measured
1 US cup of heavy cream weighs 238 g. Based on USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy): fluid (unwhipped). Heavy (whipping) cream, liquid, before whipping.
Other values: King Arthur, cream, 227 g a cup: 1.05 cups (King Arthur lists 227 g (8 oz) for a cup of heavy cream, light cream or half & half, as it does for water and milk); USDA survey foods, heavy cream, 240 g a cup: 0.992 cups (USDA's survey foods list 240 g for a cup of heavy cream).
How many grams in 1 cup of heavy cream?
One US cup of heavy cream weighs 238 grams, or 8.4 ounces (USDA). That is the value the converter uses for liquid heavy (whipping) cream, so 476 grams of heavy cream is 2 cups, 119 grams is ½ cup and a tablespoon weighs 14.88 grams.
By volume the same cup is 236.6 milliliters, or 8 fluid ounces, exact by definition. USDA's survey foods list a little more, 240 grams. King Arthur Baking's chart lists less, 227 grams (8 ounces), the same weight it gives for a cup of water and of milk; none of the sources says why the values differ.

USDA notes that a cup of heavy whipping cream yields 2 cups whipped, and lists a cup of the whipped cream at 120 grams. The usual reading of "1 cup heavy cream, whipped" is a cup of liquid cream, measured before whipping; for "1 cup whipped cream", the converter's whipped cream gives 240 grams for 2 cups. Cream from a pressurized can is a different product, and we have no weight for it.
